360Giving Workshops

We run workshops to increase confidence, knowledge and skills using data.

Workshops

360Giving workshops are informal learning sessions which are designed to increase your confidence, knowledge and skills in using data and to grow your understanding of 360Giving’s tools and publishing process.

Our online workshops are for non-experts. They are intended to be a safe learning environment for people of all abilities, whether you are totally new to data or want to brush up on your existing skills.

Introduction to the DEI Data Standard

Cost: Free

In 2020, 360Giving started work with the DEI Data Group to create the DEI Data Standard, a shared taxonomy and approach to support funders to understand the equity of their grantmaking.

This workshop will introduce you to the DEI Data Standard, give background on why and how it was developed and outline the options for implementation. We’ll then explore how funders can approach collecting DEI Data Standard data about their grants and the next steps if they want to share the data collected using this framework using the 360Giving Data Standard.

There will be time for questions throughout the workshop and a Q&A at the end, but for those with any further questions we will be staying on for a further 15 minutes after the session ends.

This session is designed for UK funders wanting to learn more about the DEI Data Standard and how they can start collecting equity data.

Intersectional data analysis

Cost: Free for 360Giving publishers, £50 for other non-profits, £100 for corporates

With Tania Cohen

Intersectionality is increasingly a buzzword – but undertaking multi-dimensional data analysis is easier said than done, and is often not done well in practice. As funders are collecting more data, particularly equity data, learning how to interpret, use and present this data responsibly is more important than ever.

In this online workshop, attendees will learn about the benefits and common challenges and pitfalls in intersectional data analysis, and explore options to use and report on multi-dimensional data.

Our host, Tania Cohen, will use Excel, including pivot tables, to demonstrate examples of how to manipulate the data and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about different scenarios. After the workshop there will also be the option to book a free 1-1 intersectional data support session with Tania, should you wish to discuss any aspects of the workshop in further detail or have further questions on analysing intersectional data.

This workshop is designed for people who work for grantmaking organisations who want to learn more about what intersectional analysis is, how they can use it in their work, and considerations for presenting multi-dimensional data, particularly equity data. Familiarity with Excel would be helpful for attendees, but the principles are the same regardless of the tools used.
