Want to take your knowledge and confidence in using grant data to the next level? Learn how to prepare, analyse, enrich and present data in this interactive, full-day in-person training. 

Take a data journey

In Data in a Day we’ll guide you through the data analysis pipeline, showing you why and how to tackle each stage – from defining the question for your research, how to find, clean and enrich data, to analysing and presenting your findings. Our specialist trainers will support you to work through an example data analysis project from beginning to end, so you’ll get experience of each step.

Build your skills and confidence

The day is designed for people who work with grant data and use Excel in their roles but want to further enhance their skills. Data in a Day will boost your confidence and knowledge of what can be achieved using simple spreadsheets, so you can return to your organisations and start to unleash the impact of grant data in your daily work.

A specialist team and a small group

Data in a Day provides attendees with the opportunity to learn from a team of grant and charity data specialists with a wealth of experience to share. With a maximum of 15 attendees, you’ll receive practical, hands-on support from our team throughout the day, and have opportunities to get advice on how to approach your own data projects.

What you’ll learn

Over the course of Data in a Day, you will learn and explore how to: 

• Define objectives for your research, and develop questions that your data can answer
• Clean and prepare data for analysis
• Enrich data using external datasets
• Analyse and present your results using Excel

And our specialist trainers will be there to teach, support and guide you along every step of the way.

What will you need?

Participants will need to bring their own laptop and power supply with either Excel 2013 Windows edition, Excel 2016 Mac edition, or Microsoft 365 fully installed. Participants must have intermediate knowledge of Excel – for example being comfortable with using formulas and pivot tables to manipulate data.
