After you've published

Our communications pack supports you to explain to your audiences why you publish open grants data

After you’ve published

The 360Giving team is delighted that your organisation has joined the open grants movement! Hundreds of funders have shared their grants using the 360Giving Data Standard, enabling them to share information on who, where and what they fund in a way that others can access and use for free.

In the communications pack below, we have provided resources and messages which explain what publishing using the 360Giving Data Standard means and why it is so important (both for funders and for society) to support you to communicate this to your external audiences, your grantees and your internal teams. You can also find the 360Giving publisher badges here, if you haven’t already added one to your organisation’s website.

Using our tools

We have created free online tools to make it easy to explore, download and visualise grants data. Once you’ve published and let us know, your data will appear in all our tools the following day, making it easily accessible, and allowing it to be viewed together with data from other funders.

Widgets and bespoke dashboards

We can support you to add widgets and bespoke dashboards to your website to promote your published data more widely.

Widgets

Widgets allow you to embed your organisation’s 360Giving data on your own website. They will help you to display that you publish grants data openly and transparently, and will provide a greater opportunity for others to understand where your funding is going.

Bespoke Dashboards

We can deliver thematic trackers, bespoke dashboards and reports for funder networks or collaborations. They can be either standalone or as part of a package which may include an extension to the 360Giving Data Standard.

If you have any further questions or would like any help, do get in touch with us at labs@threesixtygiving.org.

Keeping your 360Giving data up-to-date

As well as using and displaying your 360Giving data, you should also keep it up-to-date by publishing new grant data.

Some grantmakers choose to update their data every six months or quarterly, while others make an update following each grant award round. The aim is to have timely information available – but what ‘timely‘ means will be different for different organisations, depending on circumstances and how often grants are awarded.

Grantee amendments

Recipients of grants published in 360Giving data have a mechanism to report issues related to inaccurate or misleading information about their organisations, such as the recipient name or recipient identifiers, description text or location. The mechanism also allows recipients to request the removal of information considered personal or sensitive.

If a recipient organisation raises a valid issue about data you have published using the Grantee Amendment form, the details will be passed on to your organisation by 360Giving.

See our guidance on making updates to your data, and the grantee amendment request mechanism.

As well as regularly publishing your data, it is also important to make sure you notify the 360Giving Helpdesk of changes to contacts. Email addresses provided for receiving these grantee amendment requests should be kept up-to-date.
