Learning more from the data

Learning more from the data

Thanks to funders sharing their grant data in the 360Giving Data Standard, there is now a wealth of data available on grantmaking in the UK. To get the most from the data and realise its impact, it needs to be used to deepen our understanding of the grantmaking picture and inform decision-making.

360Giving produces reports, publications and analysis that can help identify trends and put the data in context, and so that we can inspire practice for others to do the same – helping to achieve our vision of grantmaking becoming more informed, effective and strategic.

You can find our reports, analysis and other grantmaking data insights so far on 360Insights.

We also work with other organisations by supporting them to understand grants data through consultancy services. We can produce bespoke analysis to help you understand where you fit into the grantmaking picture, or help answer a larger question using the data.

Our grants data specialists can also support you with data cleaning that improves its quality and makes it ready for publication, or through data enrichment that supports internal analysis of your performance.

Inspired to do your own analysis?

Because data published in the 360Giving Data Standard is openly available, it can be used by anyone for their own research and analysis. We provide support for others to improve their data skills and to use the data effectively.

If you or your organisation wants to use the data for a project of your own, you can book a 1-1 Data Support call with our team to discuss it and any questions you might have about the data. You can also get in touch with us directly by phone or email.

If you want to improve your data skills you can also join one of our scheduled skills workshops – or contact us to discuss an in-house session that can improve the data skills of your team or organisation.

Data Visualisation Challenge

In 2018, 360Giving invited developers, researchers and anyone with an interest in the data to use our dataset to develop and visualise innovative solutions to key questions facing the grantmaking sector. It provides inspiration and ideas of what can be done with the data.
